Egypt, Belgium discuss investment in energy fields

Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Mohamed Shaker received Commercial Attaché at the Embassy of Belgium in Egypt Hajar Magdy to discuss investment opportunities in the fields of energy, especially renewable energies and green hydrogen, within the framework of the attention that Egypt attaches to the expansion of the fields of green hydrogen.

This meeting reflects the Ministry’s keenness to strengthen ways of cooperation with various institutions and organizations during the coming period and to benefit from advanced expertise in the field of renewable energies to spread the uses of renewable energies, reduce carbon emissions and increase the share of the participation of the private sector in such projects.

During the meeting, they discussed ways of joint cooperation between the two sides in the field of electricity, new and renewable energy and the fields of green hydrogen.

The minister stressed the Ministry’s interest in preserving the environment through the expansion of renewable energy projects and the localization of industrial expertise in Egypt, especially modern and advanced fields.

He pointed to Egypt’s clear richness in renewable energy sources, especially wind and solar energy, which qualifies it to be one of the largest producers of renewable energy.

For their part, the representatives of Belgian companies pointed to their previous work and experience in the fields of renewable energies, green hydrogen and infrastructure, and expressed their aspiration and interest in cooperation with the electricity and renewable energy sector to invest in Egypt.
