Egypt Armed Forces’ Northern Military Zone Distributes Bridal Trousseaus to 500 Couples

The Egyptian Armed Forces’ Northern Military Zone organized, in cooperation with several businessmen, NGOs, and donors, a ceremony on Wednesday 10/7/2024 to distribute bridal trousseaus and appliances to 500 young men and women about to get married.

The ceremony witnessed the distribution of household electrical appliances to 25 of the neediest families, the Egyptian Armed Forces Spokesperson Gharib Abdel-Hafez Gharib said in a statement.

The initiative’s beneficiaries came from the governorates of Alexandria, Beheira, Gharbiya, and Kafr El-Sheikh, which fall within the scope of responsibility of the Northern Military Zone, said the statement.

As part of the Armed Forces’ social responsibility, the Northern Military Zone launched in February the ‘Your Country is with You’ campaign, in cooperation with the Agricultural Bank of Egypt and several civil society institutions, to support the neediest families from the governorates that fall within the scope of the zone’s responsibility.

The campaign’s first pha
se included distributing electrical and home appliances, in coordination with the Ministry of Social Solidarity, to 332 families that need social care, according to a separate statement by the Armed Forces.

During Wednesday’s celebration, Major General Hisham Hosni Hassan, Commander of the Northern Military Zone, delivered a speech highlighting that the event reflects the Armed Forces’ efforts to alleviate the burdens on the neediest families from various segments of the Egyptian society.

Hassan indicated that the Northern Military Zone simultaneously fulfils its social responsibilities and maintains its combat systems, weapons, and equipment, continuously improving its performance to execute all assigned tasks and duties.

According to the statement, the beneficiaries expressed their deep appreciation for the Armed Forces’ efforts to provide comprehensive support and care to the Egyptian people.

In August 2023, the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAPMAS) released a new report statin
g that Egypt registered 1.8 new marriages every minute and one divorce every two minutes in 2022.

The report also showed that among the ten governorates with the highest marriage rates, Beheira recorded 58,000 new marriages in 2022, while Gharbiya had 51,000, and Alexandria had 50,000.

The Egyptian population has reached 106.5 million as of July 2024, according to CAPMAS figures.
