Egypt Announces Public Holidays for April and May


Cairo: Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly announced a series of official public holidays in April and May to mark national and cultural celebrations. In a Cabinet statement, Prime Minister Madbouly declared Monday, April 21 a paid public holiday across government ministries, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies, state-owned enterprises, and the private sector to celebrate Sham El-Nessim, the traditional spring festival.



According to State Information Service Egypt, the prime minister also designated Thursday, April 24 as a substitute holiday for Sinai Liberation Day, which falls on Friday, April 25, allowing for an extended weekend for most workers. Additionally, Thursday, May 1 will be a paid holiday to mark Labour Day, a globally observed occasion honouring workers and labour rights.
