Egypt and Zambia Discuss Strengthening Trade and Investment Ties


Cairo: Egypt’s Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade, Engineer Hassan El-Khatib, met with Zambian Minister of Commerce, Trade, and Industry, Chipoka Mulenga, on Monday to explore avenues for boosting bilateral trade and investment across key sectors.



According to State Information Service Egypt, the talks centered on enhancing cooperation in agriculture, energy, manufacturing, ICT and digitalization, mining, construction, and the pharmaceutical industry. Minister El-Khatib reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to strengthening economic ties, emphasizing the shared goal of expanding trade exchange and driving economic growth. He also underscored the importance of fostering stronger business partnerships, calling for greater collaboration between the private sectors of both countries.



Minister El-Khatib highlighted Egypt’s investment advantages, including its modern infrastructure, skilled workforce, and extensive trade agreements with global and regional economic blocs, positioning it as a strategic partner for Zambia.



For his part, Minister Mulenga welcomed the deepening of economic ties, viewing the partnership as a catalyst for regional integration and economic expansion. He reiterated Zambia’s commitment to attracting foreign investment in priority sectors and ensuring a business-friendly environment. He also stressed the need to simplify trade procedures and promote bilateral trade, urging businesses in both countries to seize available opportunities and form strategic partnerships that support economic integration.
