Egypt and US Discuss Energy Cooperation Amid New Oil Ventures

Cairo: Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Karim Badwai has engaged in discussions with US Energy Secretary Chris Wright on enhancing cooperation between Egypt and the United States in the energy sector. This discussion comes as American oil companies, including Chevron and ExxonMobil, participate for the first time in research and exploration activities in Egypt.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the 10th annual Powering Africa Summit, held in Washington DC on March 6-7. The discussions centered on ways to strengthen collaboration, particularly in the development of the Eastern Mediterranean region’s fields and the potential for transporting natural gas produced from these fields using Egypt’s liquefaction facilities in Idku and Damietta.

Both parties expressed interest in advancing their cooperative efforts and agreed to convene an expanded meeting on Tuesday as part of the CERA week activities.
