Egypt and Tajikistan Enhance Bilateral Cooperation with Three New Agreements.


Cairo: Egypt and Tajikistan have strengthened their bilateral relations by signing three significant cooperation documents aimed at boosting economic and trade ties. The agreements were signed during the third session of the Egypt-Tajikistan Joint Committee for Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation.

According to State Information Service Egypt, one of the key documents is a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Egypt’s Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and Tajikistan’s Ministry of Economic Development and Trade. This MoU is geared towards enhancing trade exchange and economic partnership, with a focus on knowledge sharing in macroeconomic forecasting and the development of new social and economic models.

In a separate agreement, Rania el Mashat, Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, signed the 2024/2025 joint action plan with Tajikistan’s State Unified Enterprise ‘Tajinvest’. This plan aims to establish a joint working group to implement an
existing MoU, exchange expertise in services offered to investors, and improve investment promotion activities.

Additionally, a cooperation agreement on mutual assistance in customs files was signed to facilitate the movement of goods, aligning with international standards. This agreement emphasizes information exchange and mutual support in regulatory areas, enhancing the bilateral trade framework.

The two nations also signed a protocol for the Joint Committee’s third session, covering 17 areas of mutual interest. The committee, co-chaired by el Mashat and Tajikistan’s Minister of Economic Development and Trade Zokirzoda Zavqi Amin, discussed investment opportunities in sectors like food, pharmaceuticals, tourism, and textiles. They also explored ways to boost trade, attract investments, and enhance cooperation in renewable energy and industrial sectors.
