Egypt and Mastercard Explore Cooperation on Digital Transformation and Cybersecurity


Cairo: Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, engaged in discussions with Mastercard executives to explore avenues for expanding cooperation in the fields of digital transformation, cybersecurity, and financial innovation.



According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions centered on enhancing government payment systems for startups, boosting cybersecurity awareness for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and financial institutions, and providing digital tools to combat cyber threats. The agenda also included initiatives aimed at developing digital skills and workforce training for entrepreneurs.



Minister Al-Mashat highlighted the significant role of digital transformation in bolstering Egypt’s economic planning, attracting investment, and fostering private sector growth. She pointed out the use of AI and big data for informed decision-making and economic forecasting, along with key initiatives like the Government Innovation Lab and Egypt’s Startup Charter.



Jon Huntsman, Vice Chairman and President for Strategic Growth at Mastercard, reiterated the company’s commitment to Egypt’s digital economy. He emphasized ongoing investments in public-private partnerships designed to enhance economic resilience and cybersecurity.
