Cairo: Egypt and Mali have taken a significant step towards enhancing military collaboration by signing a memorandum of understanding focused on military cooperation. Lieutenant General Abdel Majeed Saqr, Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces and Minister of Defense and Military Production, met with Lieutenant General Sadio Camara, Minister of National Defense and Veterans Affairs of the Republic of Mali, along with his delegation, during their visit to Egypt.
According to State Information Service Egypt, an official reception ceremony was organized at the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Defense, where military bands played the national anthems of both nations. The discussions during the meeting concentrated on several regional and international issues of mutual concern, especially those affecting security and stability throughout the African continent.
Lieutenant General Abdel Majeed Saqr highlighted the robust relationship between the Egyptian and Malian armed forces, expressing a strong
desire to deepen these ties to benefit both countries. In response, Lieutenant General Sadio Camara acknowledged Egypt’s pivotal role in fostering security and stability across Africa and expressed eagerness for increased cooperation between their military forces.
At the visit’s conclusion, the signing of the memorandum of understanding underscored the commitment to strengthening military relations. The event was attended by Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff of the Egyptian Armed Forces, and several senior military officials from both countries, marking a significant milestone in Egypt and Mali’s defense partnership.
