Kuwait City: Egypt and Kuwait have agreed to advance their bilateral economic, investment, and trade relations.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the Kuwaiti side expressed its intention to invest in the Egyptian economy, leveraging numerous opportunities in the fields of energy, agriculture, industry, information technology, real estate development, banking, and the pharmaceutical industry.
This announcement was made in a joint statement issued on the occasion of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s visit to Kuwait from April 14 to 15. The statement highlighted the solid, historical relations between the State of Kuwait and the Arab Republic of Egypt, emphasizing their strategic partnership. President Sisi’s visit came at the invitation of Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
The visit included a bilateral session of talks between the Kuwaiti emir and President Sisi, followed by an expanded meeting with delegations from both countries. Discussions focused on the close ties between the two nations and their mutual commitment to security and interests, as well as their dedication to protecting Arab national security.
The two sides explored areas of joint cooperation in sectors such as economic, investment, trade, energy, infrastructure, healthcare, education, culture, and tourism. They expressed satisfaction with the progress in these sectors and the growth in economic and trade relations. Both sides showed determination to bolster trade and investment ties, instructing officials to take necessary steps to achieve these goals.
The statement also addressed outcomes from the Kuwaiti-Egyptian Joint Committee meetings held in September 2024 in Cairo, along with preparations for the 14th session of the joint committee. The Egyptian side praised the developments in Kuwait aimed at realizing Kuwait Vision 2035, while Kuwait acknowledged Egypt’s development boom under President Sisi’s leadership and efforts to improve the investment climate per Egypt Vision 2030.
Kuwait expressed interest in participating in the Gulf-Egypt Investment Forum in Cairo, aiming to serve common interests. Both sides appreciated mutual support in international forums and close coordination on regional and international issues, advocating for peace and diplomatic resolutions in the Middle East.
President Sisi commended the Kuwaiti emir’s efforts to maintain Arab regional stability during Kuwait’s presidency of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). The Kuwaiti emir praised Egypt’s role in peace and security, particularly its hosting of the extraordinary Arab Summit and support for Gaza’s recovery and reconstruction. He also reiterated Kuwait’s rejection of any displacement of the Palestinian people.
