Egypt and ICESCO Explore Joint Programs to Strengthen Cooperation


Rabat: Egypt’s Ambassador in Rabat, Ahmed Nihad Abdel Latif, met with the Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), Salim M. AlMalik, to discuss proposed activities and programs aimed at enhancing joint cooperation.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the discussions focused on organizing a conference for ministers of higher education and science within the Muslim world, which Cairo is set to host by the end of 2025. The meeting also covered ICESCO’s expected participation in the opening ceremony of the Grand Egyptian Museum, collaborative efforts in cultural heritage conservation, and promoting culture’s role in peace-building.

Salim M. AlMalik expressed his eagerness to expand the strategic partnership between Egypt and ICESCO through innovative programs and projects. He emphasized the organization’s commitment to engaging with member states to develop joint initiatives that meet each country’s specific needs, particularly in building yout
h capacity, preparing them for future employment, and promoting peace, technology, innovation, artificial intelligence, and space science.

Furthermore, AlMalik reaffirmed ICESCO’s full support for Khaled El-Enany, the Arab-African candidate for the position of Director-General of UNESCO, highlighting the competence of the Egyptian professionals recently employed by the organization.
