Cairo: Dr Ayman Ashour, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, confirmed the depth of the cooperative relationships between Egypt and France, particularly in the educational and research fields. This came during his reception of Mr Eric Chauvillier, the French Ambassador to Cairo, and his accompanying delegation, at his office in the new administrative capital.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the minister praised the joint cooperative relations between Egypt and France, noting the strong steps taken in recent times to enhance cooperation between the two sides, including the signing of the largest framework agreement for international partnership between Egyptian universities and their French counterparts last June. This event was attended by a significant number of presidents from both Egyptian and French universities, aiming to grant dual degrees in 15 specialisations.
The minister also pointed out that the strengthening of relations between Egypt and France has resulted in many successful educational projects, including the French Community University, which has received substantial support from the political leadership in both countries. This initiative aims to transform it into an outstanding academic and research institution, representing the new generation of smart universities, along with numerous bilateral agreements and research projects between Egyptian and French universities, as well as cooperation in providing scholarships. He expressed Egypt’s desire to strengthen and enhance these relations.
For his part, Mr Chauvillier expressed France’s pride in the historical educational and cultural ties it has with Egypt, and its willingness to provide academic and research support in various fields, particularly those that serve Egypt’s sustainable development goals. He affirmed France’s readiness to enhance cooperation with Egypt to develop innovative educational programmes and support the exchange of students and researchers between the two countries to maximise the benefits from shared experiences.
Dr Mohamed Rushdi, the President of the French University in Egypt, noted that the university aims to be a leading academic model that embraces innovation and modern technology, in line with Egypt’s development needs. He emphasised that Egyptian-French cooperation enhances opportunities for advanced education and places the university on the map of international academic excellence.
Dr Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the French University in Egypt, confirmed that the establishment of the new campus for the French University reflects Egypt and France’s commitment to developing education and scientific research. He indicated that this project represents an important step towards strengthening bilateral relations and supporting the development of generations capable of leading a bright future.
The two sides discussed the mechanisms for implementing the framework agreement signed between the two countries. The meeting also reviewed the latest updates regarding the establishment of the new campus for the French University in Egypt.
The meeting was attended by Dr Mohamed Rushdi, President of the French University in Egypt, Dr Mounir Fakhry Abdel Nour, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the French University, Mr J©r´me Tauroand, Deputy Director of the French Development Agency, as well as Dr Hussein Farid, Director of Projects for Community Universities emerging from government universities, representing the Faculty of Engineering at Ain Shams University, which is responsible for overseeing the implementation, alongside several representatives from the French Development Agency.
