Cairo: Egypt and France have entered into financing and grant agreements amounting to pound 131.5 million to advance wastewater treatment projects. These agreements are set to fund the third phase of the Gabal Asfar wastewater treatment plant as well as a new wastewater treatment facility in East Alexandria.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the agreements include a financing package of pound 68 million along with a pound 2 million grant from the French Development Agency for the ‘New Wastewater Treatment Plant in East Alexandria.’ This project will benefit the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities.
In addition to this, agreements were also signed for the ‘Gabal Asfar Wastewater Treatment Plant’ project. This includes financing of pound 50 million from the French Development Agency, a pound 1.5 million grant, and an additional pound 10 million grant from the European Union, which is managed by the French Development Agency, also targeting the Ministry of Housing, Utilities, and Urban Communities.
