Riyadh: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Badr Abdel Aty met with his Djiboutian counterpart, Mahmoud Ali Youssef, on the sidelines of the Ministerial Preparatory Meeting for the extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit held in Riyadh. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral ties and coordinating efforts at both the African Union and Arab League.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Minister Abdel Aty emphasized Egypt’s commitment to enhancing political and economic relations with Djibouti. This commitment builds upon the progress made in recent years, highlighted by a call between the two presidents on October 30, where they agreed on the importance of ongoing consultations.
The ministers concurred on the necessity of expanding cooperation in the economic, trade, and logistics sectors, and on fostering partnerships between private sectors in both countries. Discussions also covered regional issues, particularly developments in the Horn of Africa and the Red Sea. They underscored the impo
rtance of respecting state sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as ensuring the freedom of international navigation.
Moreover, both ministers agreed to reinforce coordination at the African Union and the Arab League, aiming to enhance their collaborative efforts within these international organizations.
