Egypt and Cameroon Housing Ministers Discuss Bilateral Cooperation on Sidelines of WUF12.


Cairo: Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities Sherif el Sherbini met with Cameroon’s Minister of Housing and Urban Development Celestine Kitscha, and Cameroon Ambassador to Egypt Mohamadou Labarang, along with their delegation, to discuss ways to enhance bilateral cooperation. This meeting was held on the sidelines of the 12th edition of the World Urban Forum (WUF), which is hosted in Cairo, marking its return to the African continent after over two decades since its inception in Nairobi, Kenya, in 2002.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Sherif el Sherbini expressed Egypt’s readiness to share its extensive expertise and hands-on experience with Cameroon and other African nations, as represented by the housing ministry. He highlighted that Egyptian construction companies, consulting offices, and real estate developers possess significant experience in executing urban development projects. He further emphasized the strong presence of Egyptian companies in the African and Middle Easter
n regions, expressing their readiness to implement projects worldwide, with a particular focus on African countries.

Sherbini provided a detailed explanation of Egypt’s initiatives in providing housing units for low-income groups, as part of the “Housing for All Egyptians” project initiated by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi. He also discussed the state’s efforts in developing unsafe areas and the establishment and development of 4th generation cities.

Celestine Kitscha commended the Egyptian state’s remarkable progress in urban development, acknowledging the advancements made in the field.
