Egyptian Ambassador in Belgrade Amr Aljowaily met Saturday 15/05/2021 with Serbian Minister of Trade, Tourism and Communications Tatjana Matic and Minister of Economy Andjelka Atanaskovic to mull ways of boosting bilateral economic relations.
The meetings discussed increasing trade exchange and enhancing cooperation in the fields of tourism, communications and information technology, small and medium enterprises, public business sector, and investment, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The talks with Matic focused on efforts to enhance the joint Egyptian-Serbian Business Council in developing bilateral relations and arranging for a meeting between the two sides to agree on a work program to be approved during the first meeting scheduled to be held on the sidelines of the next session of the joint committee for economic, scientific and technician cooperation to be held in Cairo, Aljowaily said.
The sides also reviewed proposals to facilitate the bilateral trade system and to establish a working group emanating from the joint committee on trade issues, he added.
The meeting also touched on promoting tourism from Serbia to Egypt, which has witnessed an increase during the past years, even during the coronavirus pandemic, through mutual coordination on the applied precautionary measures in the two countries, the ambassador said.
The meeting with Atanaskovic reflected the two sides’ keenness to increase the volume of mutual investments by exchanging data on Egyptian investments in Serbia and Serbian investments in Egypt, he added.
The meeting also dealt with the two countries’ efforts in restructuring companies and the opportunities available to the private sector in Cairo and Belgrade, Aljowaily concluded.
