Planning Minister Hala El Said said on Friday Egypt advanced 19 positions in the UNDP’s Human Development Index of 2021.
Egypt occupied 97th place, compared to 116th place in the 2020 report.
Said noted that Egypt’s progress reflects the development plans implemented by the country over the past years, including national projects and presidential initiatives in all fields.
According to the minister, Egypt has joined the ranks of countries in the world with high human development instead of the medium human development group.
The annual average growth of the HDI in Egypt is estimated at 0.73% from 2010-2021, which represents an increase from the previous ten years (2000-2010), which was estimated at 0.64%, she added.
