EGP 1.5 Billion Allocated for Additional Allowance to Takaful and Karama Beneficiaries During Ramadan

Cairo: Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk announced that during the holy month of Ramadan, 4.7 million families received an additional support of EGP 300 each from the Takaful and Karama program at a total cost of EGP 1.5 billion. The state’s public treasury provided the necessary funds to the Ministry of Social Solidarity to ensure the beneficiaries received this financial aid.

According to State Information Service Egypt, this initiative was discussed in a meeting between Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk and Minister of Social Solidarity Maya Morsi. The meeting focused on implementing urgent exceptional measures as part of a social protection bundle aimed at assisting the most vulnerable segments of the population during Ramadan and Eidul Fitr. This effort aligns with presidential directives to enhance the living conditions of low-income groups.

Both ministers confirmed that the financial support for the program’s beneficiaries will see a 25% increase starting in April, with a total projected cost of EGP 13 billion until June 2026. They highlighted that the Takaful and Karama program, which began in 2014 supporting 1.7 million families with EGP 3.5 billion, has made significant progress under the president’s guidance.
