Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, met with Ms. Ana Melina Motius, Colombian Ambassador to Egypt, and her accompanying delegation to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister stressed the importance of cooperation and partnership between Egypt and Colombia in the scientific and research fields, pointing to the depth of relations between the two countries, especially in the fields of higher education and scientific research.
The Minister pointed out the importance of scientific and research cooperation with Colombia in order to serve the efforts to develop the Egyptian industry in line with achieving the goals of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research, and efforts to link university education with the industrial community in various geographical regions.
Dr. Ayman Ashour asserted the interest and support that the Egyptian state gives to developing the higher education system,
pointing to the great achievements it has achieved during the past period in terms of expanding availability, developing the infrastructure of higher education institutions, and modernizing study programs to suit the labor market.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed mechanisms for enhancing joint cooperation between Egyptian universities and their Colombian counterparts, in areas of common interest between the two sides.
The two sides stressed the importance of encouraging Colombian students to study in Egyptian universities, especially after the great development witnessed by the educational system in Egypt, the diversity of universities, and the interest in providing modern study programs that keep pace with the requirements of the labor market.
