ECSSR celebrates graduation of four cohorts from ‘Strategic Researcher Program’


ABU DHABI: The Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research (ECSSR) organised a graduation ceremony on Tuesday, 7th May 2024, for 60 trainees from the second, third, fourth, and fifth cohorts of the ‘Strategic Researcher Program -Foundation Stage’, in the presence of Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President.

The Program comes within the framework of ECSSR’s ongoing efforts to prepare qualified national cadres in the field of scientific research and strategic studies, and aims to enhance building the fundamental capacities of trainees under the guidance of a select group of experts, academics, and researchers.

On the occasion, Dr. Anwar Gargash highlighted the Program’s significance, noting its inclusiveness of all state entities and its role in equipping researchers with the necessary tools and capabilities for strategic analysis.

He emphasised how the Program helps participants organise their thoughts, search for information, access the right methodologies, and apply sound logic to
ensure that their conclusions are supported by evidence, regardless of its nature.

Dr. Sultan Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Director-General of ECSSR, stated that the Program serves as the initial step in a series of training initiatives designed to prepare a distinguished cadre of experts in strategic analysis, policy, economics, advanced sciences, and artificial intelligence, to contribute to the country’s journey of progress and development across various levels.

The graduation ceremony was attended by Ali Al Ahmad, Assistant Under-secretary for Policies and Defence and Communication at the Ministry of Defence; Dr. Faisal Al Ayyan, President and CEO, Higher Colleges of Technology; Dr.Hamad Al Kaabi, CEO of Aletihad News Center; along with representatives from various government entities.

The graduation ceremony commenced with the national anthem of the UAE, followed by a short film introducing the Strategic Researcher Program and emphasising the importance of preparing qualified research personnel capable of unde
rstanding the complexities of the modern world and providing informed analyses on such issues.

The graduates expressed their happiness with joining the Program, stating that its benefits extend beyond developing their research and academic skills to enhancing personal and life skills. They confirmed their significant gain from the practical aspects of the Program, which provided them with opportunities to actively participate in preparing some of the ECSSR’s research products.
