Vice-President of the European Commission (EC) Margaritis Schinas will embark on a three-day visit to Egypt as of Sunday, the Delegation of the European Union to Egypt said in a press release.
This visit will be an opportunity to deepen the cooperation between the EU and Egypt in areas such as skills, education and mobility, and to discuss concrete steps at political and operational level to address shared challenges linked to migration management, following up to the orientations of the recent European Council meetings, the note said.
The visit will start in Cairo where Vice-President Schinas will have a series of high-level meetings with Egyptian officials, including Sameh Skoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mohamed Hassen Shehata, Minister for Manpower; Reda Hegazy, Minister for Education and Vocational Training; and Alaa Abdel Maati, Assistant Minister of Interior.
In the context of promoting interfaith dialogue, the Vice-President will meet Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of St Mark Church.
On Monday, Vice-President Schinas will visit the Egyptian-German Center for Jobs, Migration and Reintegration in Cairo, together with Soha El-Gendy, Minister of State for Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs.
