EAD to showcase nature-based learning at ADIHEX 2024 with AI tools

ABU DHABI: The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi (EAD) has selected nature-based learning and artificial intelligence (AI) as the main theme of its participation at the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX).

Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the Board of Directors of EAD, the event is running from 31st August to 8th September at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).

The Agency’s ADIHEX theme will be enhanced with interactive features such as an AI tool that generates personalised nature film trailers, providing visitors with a unique way to engage with Abu Dhabi’s biodiversity, and an AI chatbot for answering attendees’ environmental questions.

The AI tool is part of naha – a personalised digital platform that promotes sustainability, elevates environmental awareness, and encourages green practices across Abu Dhabi and beyond. Called naha – from the words ‘natural habitat’ – the platfor
m centralises EAD’s key science and data-driven outreach initiatives and turns environmental intentions into meaningful action by encouraging participation and engagement in naha’s range of programmes. The inclusion of AI will enhance these efforts by using innovative technology to educate and inspire ADIHEX visitors about the natural environment.

Ahmed Baharoon, Executive Director of the of Environment Information, Science Outreach Management Sector at EAD, said, ‘The Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition is always a significant event on our annual calendar and this year we are participating under the exciting and dynamic theme of incorporating Artificial Intelligence to showcase the bountiful diversity of Abu Dhabi’s environment. At EAD, we are moving progressively towards using AI across a range of our projects and initiatives, in line with international best practises as well as the vision of the UAE leadership. That is why we are promoting it during the exhibition, so that visitors c
an enjoy learning about the environment via an innovative and interactive experience.’

The Agency’s stand will host an immersive experience revealing unseen aspects of biodiversity. Called the ‘Hidden Wonders in the Dark Room’, the specially built area aims to raise awareness about biodiversity conservation by presenting visitors with live specimens of insects and reptiles, highlighting EAD’s conservation efforts while providing a hands-on learning experience that connects visitors with the natural world.

There will also be interactive touch screens mirroring EAD’s innovative smartphone applications such as Baadr, Sahim, and Abu Dhabi Nature. The Environment Hub Majlis is a space dedicated to discussions and presentations, allowing youth to participate in talks, podcasts, and awareness sessions – all of which cover topics related to environmental conservation and sustainability, and encourage active participation in these critical issues.
