Dubai Police celebrate 68th founding anniversary with honours for trailblazing leaders


DUBAI: In a grand celebration marking the 68th anniversary of Dubai Police’s founding, police leaders gathered to honour the pioneers who have shaped the force’s illustrious history.

The event, held at the Dubai Police Officers Club, was witnessed by Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, Deputy Chief of Police and Public Security in Dubai, and Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police.

During the ceremony, Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim and Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri received a symbolic gift – the “baton of Law” made from the Ghaf tree, presented by Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Assistant Commandant for Operations.

In a heartfelt gesture, Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim and Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri honoured the first generation of retired police chiefs who have significantly contributed to Dubai Police’s success.

The honourees included retired Major General Saeed Muhammad Al Kamda, Major General Nasser A
l Razooqi, retired Major General Sharafuddin Al Hussain, Major General Abdulaziz Al Banai, retired Major General Ismail Gergawi, retired Major General Juma Aman Al Amiri, Major General Juma Obaid Al Saigh, retired Major General Khalfan Al Muhairi, and retired Major General Muhammad Eid Al Mansouri.

Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim praised the honoured police chiefs for their remarkable contributions, highlighting their pivotal roles in advancing Dubai Police. He emphasised their dedication and tireless efforts in various police sectors, setting a benchmark for excellence in public service and establishing a progressive police force.

“Their legacy remains a source of pride and inspiration for all who served alongside them,” he said.

In his address, Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri reflected on the 68-year journey of Dubai Police, which began on June 1, 1956. He lauded the force’s enduring commitment and determination, which has consistently prioritised security and safety in Dubai. He ackn
owledged the founding leaders’ efforts in making Dubai Police a model of innovation and excellence, embodying the visionary aspirations of the UAE’s leadership.

Lieutenant General Al Marri expressed gratitude to Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim, stating, “Thank you, Sir, and to all who have learned from you and contributed to what you established. Dubai Police’s journey towards leadership and distinction continues.” He pledged to uphold the tradition of excellence amid the rapid advancements in artificial intelligence, digital services, and other evolving challenges, ensuring that Dubai Police remains at the forefront of security innovation.

The celebration also featured a documentary showcasing the rich history and milestones of Dubai Police, highlighting its journey of growth and development over the decades.
