DUBAI, DP World today launched the inaugural phase of its ‘National Talent Development Programme 2023’ (20Xel), aimed at training and developing the next generation of Emirati leaders in trade, logistics and supply chain management.

The 20Xel National Talent Development Programme 2023 is the cornerstone of DP World’s Emiratisation efforts. The programme aims to foster a culture of dedication and team spirit while also encouraging innovation in a key sector.

The programme focuses on key topics – including future trade, logistics and supply chain skills – to develop theoretical and practical expertise for successful careers in a technology-based world.

The programme is open to Emirati graduates from all disciplines. Participants will receive an international supply chain management diploma from the Rotterdam School of Management and hands-on training and guidance from experienced DP World mentors.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Group Chairman and CEO of DP World, said, “The principles that govern 20Xel Programme stem from the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. This comprehensive vision is founded on a steadfast commitment to excellence and creativity, fostering an enlightened model for progress. Our primary objective is to actively contribute to maintaining Dubai’s leading position as a global investment destination, transcending its previous role as a regional economic hub.”

He added, “Central to this vision is the unwavering focus on nurturing Emiratis and promoting sustainable development. We wholeheartedly invest in the knowledge economy and our Emirati youth’s remarkable talents.”

The programme consists of four stages: foundational, operational, developmental, and leadership. Participants can obtain an international supply chain management diploma from the prestigious Rotterdam School of Management. Hands-on training and guidance from experienced colleagues enrich the learning experience.

Recently, 6 female and 11 male graduates successfully attained their Diplomas in Supply Chain Management. The programme included virtual sessions and real-time visits to ports and logistics centres, providing valuable insights for their future leadership roles.

DP World has also several other programmes dedicated to supporting the aspirations of the UAE’s youth. These include the “Forsa Vocational Training” programme and the “Ruwad” training programme, are both aimed at nurturing sector leaders across various business units.

The “Ta’heel” programme offers scholarships for Emirati students throughout their academic journey, culminating in employment opportunities within the group upon graduation. Additionally, the “Bidaya” summer programme acquaints secondary and university-level Emirati students with job prospects in Jebel Ali Port and the Jebel Ali Free Zone (Jafza).
