The second edition of the Global Media Congress (GMC), held at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC), has brought together a diverse range of Spanish-speaking media outlets.

Participants include renowned news agencies such as EFE, the largest in the Spanish-speaking world, and Prensa Latina from Cuba, alongside regional companies like Cuartoscuro magazine from Mexico, the National System of Radio and Television (SINART) from Costa Rica, Tele Cuatro from Ecuador, Telam Digital from Argentina, and Televisión de América Latina.

Sara Bhagchandani, General Coordinator and EMEAA Sales Manager of EFE, highlighted the significance of events like the GMC, emphasising that they foster valuable exchanges of experiences and business opportunities among media representatives worldwide.

In a rapidly evolving digital landscape, EFE identified combating disinformation as the media industry’s primary challenge. To address this, the agency meticulously ensures that its information is thoroughly verified and corr
oborated.

Víctor Landa, Commercial Vice-President of Prensa Latina, expressed the Cuban agency’s aim to connect with global communication leaders and stay abreast of emerging industry trends. He underscored the importance of staying informed and lauded the GMC for providing a platform to connect with hundreds of media outlets worldwide.

Cuartoscuro, Mexico City’s sole surviving photographic magazine, stands as a testament to the enduring value of print media. Despite the challenges of maintaining print operations, Editor Moisés Pablo Nava maintains that ‘a printed photo is better appreciated than a digital one.’

With over 31 years of experience, Cuartoscuro’s participation in the GMC stems from the desire to forge alliances and embark on a path of internationalisation, according to Nava. “Coming here allows us to showcase the work of Mexican photographers and learn from our counterparts in this region,” he added.

The Global Media Congress encompasses both an exhibition and a conference. The exhibition fea
tures leading international and local companies showcasing the latest technology, products, and services in the media sector, while the conference brings together industry experts to address current issues and emerging trends.
