SHARJAH: The 11th edition of the Dibba Al Hisn Al Maleh and Fishing Festival will kick off next Thursday, 29th August, in the city of Dibba Al Hisn.
The festival, organised by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and the Dibba Al Hisn Municipality, runs until 1st September.
The festival celebrates the ancient cultural and popular heritage of Dibba Al Hisn, by highlighting the heritage of the ancestors, their past and traditional crafts, in addition to promoting Al Maleh products, which are considered one of the oldest industries known to the people of the UAE to secure their needs and food stocks in various seasons.
The festival will witness the wide participation of a number of government institutions, private sector companies, and shops specialised in the manufacture and sale of Al Maleh and its derivatives. In addition to a number of fishermen and productive families, which embodies the status and importance of the event as one of the most prominent heritage and tourism festivals speciali
sed in Al Maleh industry at the level of the country and the region.
The festival is organised annually within the framework of the keenness of Dibba Al Hisn Municipality and the SCCI to preserve the popular heritage of the country in general and the Emirate of Sharjah in particular.
