DUBAI: The Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC) successfully concluded its participation in the International Cyber Skills Conference held in Wilton Park, United Kingdom, from 16th to 19th September. The conference featured the participation of 13 countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, the European Union, Australia, Canada, Japan, and prominent global organisations such as the World Economic Forum and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, along with international licensing bodies.
The conference fostered discussions on ways to strengthen global cybersecurity skills, establish new professional standards, and consolidate solutions to confront challenges in the sector. Over three days, international experts explored strategies to enhance the global cybersecurity workforce, elevate skills in the field, and develop new standards. Discussions at the forum aligned with a proposal from DESC participants at the World Economic Forum, which aims to unify cybersecurity licen
ces globally.
During the event, DESC delivered two keynote speeches showcasing Dubai’s pioneering role in supporting and nurturing competencies and talents capable of protecting information security and digital infrastructure. The delegation also discussed the proposal for a system to unify cybersecurity licences globally, ensuring greater integration and effectiveness in the global digital landscape.
Yousuf Hamad Al Shaibani, Head of Cyber Security of Dubai at DESC, noted that the participation aimed to enhance Dubai and the UAE’s reputation in international forums in digital transformation and cybersecurity, consolidating the UAE’s leadership in global efforts in this field. He emphasised the role of DESC in contributing to the UAE Digital Government Strategy 2025 and the Dubai Digital Strategy, which will help establish Dubai as a global model for digital transformation.
Dr. Bushra Al Blooshi, Director of the Cybersecurity Governance Risk Management Department at DESC, highlighted the Centre’s focus on
strengthening cooperation and coordination with international organisations to address growing cyber challenges. She reaffirmed that DESC is committed to enhancing Dubai’s digital defence capabilities through national skills and global partnerships.
