Deputy PM for Industrial Development Meets Moroccan Ambassador to Bolster Industrial and Transport Cooperation

Cairo: The team received Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development, Minister of Industry and Transport, and Ambassador Mohamed Ayat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco in Cairo, to discuss strengthening cooperation in the fields of industry and transport. This meeting was attended by Lieutenant General Nihad Shaheen, Deputy Minister of Transport for Maritime Transport, and leaders from the Ministries of Industry and Transport.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Minister emphasized the deep-rooted relations between the two brotherly countries, affirming the Egyptian government’s commitment to increasing the volume of joint cooperation, especially following the launch of the Marrakech Declaration last year. This initiative sparked extensive cooperation between Egypt and Morocco in transport fields, with both sides looking to collaborate in the industrial sector.

During the meeting, the two sides explored ways to enhance cooperation in the industrial sector. The
Minister stated that Egypt is implementing a comprehensive plan to elevate the industrial sector with the aim of transforming Egypt into a regional industrial hub. This aligns with the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, highlighting Egypt’s openness to cooperation with all countries, particularly brotherly Arab nations. Promising opportunities in this area could significantly boost joint industrial cooperation and increase trade exchanges, reaching African and foreign markets.

The discussions also included cooperation in various transport fields, particularly maritime transport, through coordination between Egyptian and Moroccan ports. This is especially relevant given that Moroccan ports in West Africa serve as a launching point for exports to Western Europe and the Americas. Additionally, Egyptian ports overlooking the Red Sea, such as Safaga and Sokhna, serve as departure points for exports to Gulf countries and South and East Asia.

In this context, the successful experiences of the two countr
ies in various fields, including the transport sector, were reviewed. The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that Egyptian companies executing major projects in Egypt and African countries are prepared to undertake projects in Morocco. This includes infrastructure projects and sports facilities for the 2030 World Cup, set to be held in Morocco.

The Moroccan ambassador welcomed this initiative, encouraging Egyptian companies to participate in project tenders. He also emphasized the necessity of holding intensive meetings between officials from both sides to activate this cooperation in the upcoming period.
