Defense minister witnesses signing of MoUs, armament contracts with S.Korea

Minister of Defense and Military Production Mohamed Zaki has attended the signing ceremony of two memorandums of understanding in the military cooperation fields between Egypt and South Korea in addition to a contract with South Korea’s Hanwha Corporation for the joint- manufacturing of howitzer (EGY k9A1).

The ceremony was held in the presence of Chief of the South Korean government’s Defence Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) Kang Eun-ho.

Ahmed Khaled, the deputy minister of defense, commander of the strategic command and supervisor of military industrialization signed two MoUs for cooperation in the field of defense industries and logistics support in addition to another that identifies principles governing cooperation in defense research and development fields between the two sides.

Meanwhile, Head of the Armed Forces Armament Authority Osama Ezzat inked a contract with Hanwha Corporation on joint manufacturing of the howitzer system, enabling Egypt to locally manufacture it at the companies and factories of the National Authority for Military Production Military Production.

The defense minister said the General Command of the Armed Forces is keen to cope up with the latest international armament systems.
