Damietta Port wins award of best commercial harbor

Due to its efforts to implement digital services and develop automated systems to facilitate customer requirements, Damietta Port Authority has won the award of “Best commercial Port in Digital Transformation and Application of the Just in Time System” on the occasion of the World Maritime Day 2022.

The occasion was held in Alexandria under the theme “new technology for more Environment-friendly maritime transport”.

The event was held under the auspices of Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir, who himself won the “personality of the year” award.

Board chairman of the Damietta Port Authority (DPA) Ahmed Hawaash explained that Damietta Port’s winning of this award came as a result of successful efforts to initiate a number of automated systems and Digital transformation services for the purpose of facilitating and simplifying procedures, raising operating efficiency, and upgrading the port’s traffic system.

The DPA succeeded in networking with the port community by means of a fiber network that connects most of the government agencies operating at the port.

The authority has also implemented the JIT system for ships with the aim of saving time, reducing costs, reducing harmful emissions from ships inside and outside the port, and reaching zero waiting for ships in the external waiting area.

The authority succeeded in implementing the unified bill for ships, which includes (the port authority, the maritime transport sector, the customs and quarantine authority, the Egyptian Authority for Maritime Safety and Passports and the port police) so that the customer pays all relevant dues electronically in a single invoice to a sole party.
