Minister of Culture Inas Abdel Dayem mourned on Friday the death of former culture minister Gaber Asfour, who passed away earlier in the day after a battle with illness. He was 77.
In press statements, Abdel Dayem said the Egyptian and Arab culture has lost one of its pillars, noting that Gaber Asfour made many immortal achievements in the enlightenment field.
The minister also highlighted Asfour’s pioneering role in the academic research, as well as in managing the cultural sites he had been responsible of.
She offered condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
