Minister of Culture Ahmed Fouad Hanno handed over the Nile Award for Arab Innovators to Member of the Supreme Council of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Sharjah Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, during a visit to the UAE.
In a statement released, the minister said granting Sheikh Sultan Al Qasimi the Nile Award for Arab Innovators is a well-deserved honor for a figure who has had a positive and significant impact on Arab culture.
Hanno said: ‘Sheikh Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi is one of the most prominent figures who have contributed significantly to promoting Arab culture.’
One of Al Qasimi’s most notable contributions is the Historical Dictionary project, which unified the Arabic language academies for the first time, thus contributing to preserving the linguistic and cultural identity of the Arab world.
Al Qasimi also made great efforts to save and restore the Egyptian National Library in Bab Al Khalq, in addition to establishing the National Archives in Fustat, and other important cultura
l projects.
These projects reflect his constant keenness to enhance cultural cooperation and develop the cultural infrastructure in the region, as well as his keenness to extend joint cultural cooperation.
