Countdown to TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup Group Stage Draw


The countdown to the Group Stage Draw of the 2024 TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup has started with just one week to the highly-anticipated event to be held at the CAF Headquarters in Cairo.

Taking place on Monday, 7 October 2024, the draw will begin at 13h00 Cairo time (10h00 GMT), followed by the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League draw at 14h00 local time (11h00 GMT).

Title holders and new CAF Super Cup winners Zamalek are among the 16 clubs that have qualified for the Confederation Cup group stage following last week’s thrilling round of second-leg preliminary fixtures.

The Egyptians are among former winners RS Berkane and USM Alger to have joined the qualified clubs, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting draw.

How the Teams Qualified:

ASEC Mimosas of Côte d’Ivoire bounced back from a 1-0 defeat in the first leg, securing a 2-0 victory at home against ASC Kara, thanks to goals from Coulibaly and Diarrassouba.

Stade Malien of Mali comfortably advanced with a 3-1 win over Paynesvill
e FC, ensuring their spot in the group stage.

Algerian giants USM Alger narrowly escaped elimination with a dramatic last-minute goal in the 94th minute to seal a 2-0 victory over Stade Tunisien.

Fellow Algerian side CS Constantine secured a 2-0 aggregate win over Nsoatreman of Ghana.

Egyptian giants Zamalek and Al Masry both cruised through their respective ties, while Morocco’s RS Berkane continued their strong form.

Tanzanian heavyweights Simba SC and Nigeria’s Enyimba also booked their places, showcasing the depth of talent in the competition.

Angola will have two representatives in the group stage: Bravos do Maquis and Sagrada Esperança.

Botswana’s Orapa United and Mozambique’s Black Bulls are set to make their debuts in the group stage, adding exciting new faces to the mix.
