COP28, ideal platform to voice concerns of African communities on climate change: African official

DUBAI: Dr. Mohamed Nbou, Special Adviser for Climate, Biodiversity and Food Security at the United African Cities and Local Governments Organisation (UCLG-Africa), said that African government entities are participating in the UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) to convey the voice of African communities about the impact of climate change on the African continent and developing countries.

COP28 is keeping the hope alive in developing countries, the African official told the Emirates News Agency (WAM), on the sidelines of his participation in COP28, noting that the UCLG-Africa delegation represents nearly 60,000 African government entities. He added that COP28 is an opportunity to spotlight African concerns about the climate change fallout on African communities and required adaptation efforts.

He underscored the many studies and statistics that the UCLG-Africa issued, covering the massive losses in developing countries, calling for more global funding to save the planet and drive climate action.
