Egypt’s Ambassador to France Alaa Youssef highlighted the close coordination between the Egyptian Embassy in Paris and the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Egyptian Olympic Committee during the recent period with the aim of removing obstacles facing Egyptian athletes participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics.

This came during a reception he hosted in honor of Minister of Youth and Sports Ashraf Sobhi and members of the Egyptian Olympic delegation as well as some of the Egyptian athletes participating in the tournament in addition to President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) Mustapha Berraf.

According to a press release by the foreign ministry, the ambassador underscored the remarkable progress that Egypt has been witnessing in the fields of sports and sports infrastructure during the past few years.

The opening ceremony for the 2024 Paris Olympics kicked off at 7:30 pm Paris local time with a floating parade carrying nearly 7,000 athletes from around the world up the
River Seine past the French capital’s most famous landmarks.

For the first time in Olympic history, the opening ceremony took place outside the main stadium, with some 300,000 people watching in person from specially built stands, on the river banks, and another 200,000 from overlooking balconies and apartments, France 24 reported.

The ceremony lasted about three hours and 45 minutes.

The show was attended by more than 80 heads of state and government, organizers said.

Egypt is competing in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, which runs till August 11, with the largest number of athletes in its history (148 male and female athletes in addition to 16 substitutes) in 22 sports.
