Ministry of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship and Vocational Training Corporation (VTC) on Sunday signed a cooperation agreement to train youth in southern Karak governorate to obtain the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certificate, as part of the Youth, Technology and Jobs Project, which aims to support provision of digital skills in Jordan.
According to a ministry statement, the agreement aims to enhance opportunities for youth in Karak to join major private sector companies, which would have an “effective” role in designing and implementing the training program and employing university alumni.
The agreement was signed by VTC Director General, Ahmed Gharaibeh, and Director General of Digital Skills Association (DSA), Nabil Fayoumi, in presence of Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship, Ahmed Hanandeh.
Hanandeh stressed importance of developing Jordanian youth’s digital skills to keep pace with requirements and needs of the labor market, which became a basic perquisite and mainly focuses on technology sector and digital transformation in all sectors and institutions, pointing to the “remarkable” role of VTC and DSA in this regard.
For his part, Gharaibeh said VTC established Cisco Academy to provide training for Jordanian youth and increase their admission in vocational and technical education and training programs and specializations included in Jordan Vision 2025, and axes of VTC’s strategy (2023-2025), specifically in the areas of networks, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, and Internet of Things.
Meanwhile, Fayoumi lauded VTC’s role in providing training opportunities for youth, stressing keenness to strengthen this partnership to contribute to empowering youth with the technical and professional skills required in the local, regional and international labor market.
