HEBRON – Ma’an – The Civil Society Association for Human Rights Defenders concluded the “Thabitoun” camp for children in the Tel Rumeida neighborhood and Shuhada Street, in partnership with the Community Center for Training and Development in Bethlehem, in addition to cooperation with the Ibrahim Al-Khalil Association.

About 60 children from the region participated in this camp. A trip was organized to Nouba Park, accompanied by the children’s mothers. The activities and events included face painting, storytelling, sports and dancing, drawing, and learning life skills appropriate for the children’s ages.

The aim of the summer camp is to provide psychological relief to the children of the area besieged by military checkpoints and settlements that have turned the population into prisoners in their homes. This camp comes within the goals of the Human Rights Defenders Association to empower Palestinian families living in closed and besieged areas on the psychological, social, educational and other levels.

The
Civil Society for Human Rights Defenders has succeeded in organizing four summer camps in closed areas. A summer camp was organized in Jaber neighborhood called ‘Pioneers of Tomorrow,’ ‘Samidon’ camp in Wadi Al-Hussain and Jaber neighborhood, and ‘Baqoon’ camp in the old city. This group of camps ended with ‘Thabtoon’ camp in Tel Rumeida and Shuhada Street, where 300 boys and girls participated in these camps together.

The camps emphasized the Palestinian identity, deepened the values ??of justice and freedom, and alleviated the burden on families through psychological relief due to the daily pressures, especially the psychological pressures faced by residents of besieged areas afflicted by settlements.

The Human Rights Defenders Association extends its thanks and gratitude to all the national institutions that cooperated to make these camps a success, including the Hebron Municipality and the Palestinian Red Crescent.
