Minister Communications and IT Amr Talaat stressed that the IT infrastructure in Sharm el Sheikh is ready for the 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP27).
This came during the minister’s inspection tour in Sharm el Sheikh to follow up preparations for COP27 and ensure securing digital services and high speed internet and communication services, especially in hotels and tourist facilities.
Talaat was accompanied by South Sinai Governor Khaled Fouda, his deputy Raafat Hendi, Telecom Egypt CEO Adel Hammad, the minister’s assistant Mohamed Nasr-Eddin.
Meanwhile, Talaat gave the go-ahead of a mobile phone application which can be downloaded from Apple store or Google Play for participants in the event to get several health, tourist and logistic services in addition to getting the latest news of the conference.
The app can also help translate guidelines or written signs to the desired language, he said, noting that the app also includes emergency services.
He noted that the application was developed by Egyptians in tandem with a national company.
The minister also inspected one of the electric buses which were fit out with top-notch technology to be used by the conference’s guests.
At the end of the tour, he rode a Telecom Egypt vehicle that is smart and eco-friendly.
He also inspected Telecom mobile phone stations which turned into eco-friendly ones through depending on solar energy.
