JERUSALEM: Israeli colonists today set up a new colonial outpost near the Khan al-Ahmar Bedouin community, east of occupied Jerusalem.

The head of the Khan al-Ahmar village council, Eid Yasin, told WAFA that colonists set up a tent and electricity generators in the new colonial outpost located only 150 meters away from the Khan al-Ahmar Bedouin community.

Colonists have been attacking residents in the community since the first day of their arrival, which comes as part of the occupation’s systematic policy against Bedouins to force them to leave their lands for the benefit of establishing pastoral colonial outposts in the area.

Twenty-six Bedouin communities are located in the Jerusalem Governorate and are inhabited by 4,856 Bedouins, according to the United Nations Office. Bedouins in these communities face harsh living conditions in terms of basic services such as water and electricity, as well as difficulty accessing education and health centers.

o-called ‘E1′ colonial enterprise, numbering 13 communities, will be on the evacuation schedule, in addition to 12 communities located alongside this mega-project that is part of Israel’s plan known as “Greater Jerusalem”.

Since the start of this year and until the end of June, colonists established 17 colonial outposts on Palestinian citizens’ lands in the occupied West Bank.

The occupation authorities also legitimized 11 new colonial outposts during the same period. Such actions threaten the seizure of more land and further tighten the grip on additional Palestinian villages and towns for the benefit of colonial expansion.
