Israeli colonists today set fire to the Zanota Mixed Elementary School, south of Hebron, causing three classrooms to burn down.
local source in the village of Zanota said a group of colonists burned three classrooms in the village school, noting that the school was subjected to two arson attempts during the past month, in addition to colonists assaulting and beating a female school employee.
Attacks by colonists, under the protection of the Israeli occupation forces, on village residents and their property have escalated recently, forcing 36 families to forcibly leave it.
The Ministry of Education condemned the burning of the school, describing it as another crime in the series of continuing crimes of the occupation and the colonialists against educational institutions and personnel in all governorates of the country.
It said this attack on a school serving children, which comes a day after marking World Children’s Day, exposes the racism of the Israeli occupation and its policies aimed at terrorizing st
udents and children and systematically targeting educational institutions.
The Ministry called on international and human rights institutions and organizations defending children’s rights to intervene urgently to stop these violations.
