Minister of Civil Aviation, Sameh El Hefny, along with the ministry’s senior officials the Administrative Control Authority (ACA), conducted an inspection of Alamein International Airport as part of the ongoing preparations for the Egypt International Air Show and Space Expo 2024, slated for 3-5 September at the airport.
The inspection tour comes in response to Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli’s directives on good promotion of the Alamein International Airport, amid the growing tourist influx to the new Mediterranean city.
The tour began with an inspection of the departure and arrival halls, check-in counters, baggage claim areas, and the lounges dedicated to business class passengers.
El Hefny took note of certain departure and arrival procedures for passengers on a private flight from Riyadh, identifying several issues that need to be addressed.
He emphasized the importance of promptly resolving these challenges to ensure smooth and efficient passenger experience of the airport.
During discussions with
airport staff, the minister stressed the need to increase the number of coordinators at the airport and to implement immediate measures to facilitate passenger movement through the terminals.
El Hefny reiterated that the upcoming period would see focus on enhancing the service quality to ensure the readiness of Egyptian airports to accommodate more international tourists.
He also highlighted that New Alamein, now icon of global integration in various development sectors, is becoming a vital hub combining leisure and economic growth.
The minister noted the significance of the Alamein International Air and Space Expo as a unique platform that fosters international cooperation in the aviation industry and showcases Egypt’s progress in this field, offering industry leaders a valuable opportunity to explore the latest technologies in civil aviation.
It is noteworthy that the Alamein International Airport has recently undergone developments that increased its capacity to 400 passengers per hour, with the airfie
ld upgraded to accommodate 45 aircraft. The existing runway has been expanded to handle large aircraft. Anew 4-kilometer runway has been constructed, along with parking facilities for 400 cars and 150 buses.
