Citizens reaching borders, Jordan valley puts them at risk, minister warns

Minister of Interior Mazen Faraya said that citizens reaching the borders and the Jordan Valley area puts their lives in danger, citing the security nature of the area. Faraya said in a statement to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Monday that the government is committed to protecting its citizens from risks in the event that they reach the borders or the Jordan Valley, stressing the right of citizens to express themselves and show solidarity with the people in occupied Palestine. He urged citizens to adhere to the instructions issued regulating the exercise of the right to expression, hailing their patriotic feelings and anger towards what is happening in Gaza, including the systematic destruction and bombing of civilians. The Jordanian “disciplined effort” in voicing what is happening in the Gaza Strip comes in line with the ongoing efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah II to reduce the escalation, prevent the displacement of the population from the Strip, preserve the lives of civilians, and bring urgent medical and relief aid into Gaza, he added. He pointed out that King Abdullah is leading a diplomatic effort, through a tour in Europe he kicked off recently to mobilize international support that will contribute to stopping the war on Gaza, preventing its spread to the West Bank, and avoiding its impact on the stability of the entire region, with the need to open humanitarian corridors to bring urgent medical and relief aid into the Strip.
