Cairo: Ahmed Al-Sabki, Head of the General Authority for Health Care, met with Dr. Samah Al-Bagouri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Sandoz Egypt” Pharmaceuticals, to follow up on collaborative projects between the two parties in the fields of providing cancer medications and biopharmaceuticals. Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki noted that the meeting addressed several key areas, the most prominent of which was the launch of a scientific platform for service recipients to exchange scientific discussions, enhance continuous medical education, and expand training and research programmes, with the aim of developing the skills of medical staff and improving the health services provided to beneficiaries of comprehensive health insurance. He added that a preliminary agreement was reached to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Health Care Authority and “Sandoz Egypt,” covering several areas of joint cooperation, the foremost of which is supporting kidney transplantation through the provision of immunosuppressive
drugs and developing kidney transplant centres through specialised training programmes for doctors and specialists.
According to State Information Service Egypt, the meeting also touched on combating antibiotic resistance by implementing joint studies to monitor patterns of bacterial resistance and applying programmes to rationalise antibiotic use within hospitals, alongside supporting scientific research in this field. In a related context, the meeting emphasised the importance of enhancing public health awareness through awareness campaigns on antibiotic resistance and launching educational initiatives for service recipients about the correct and safe use of medications, and the importance of prevention and early detection of diseases, which contributes to improving the quality of health life for citizens.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabki praised “Sandoz Egypt” for its efforts in localising the pharmaceutical industry, noting that the Health Care Authority is the only entity in Egypt that issues electronic prescriptions, with more than 20 million electronic prescriptions issued monthly, reflecting the development of the Authority’s digital infrastructure and enhancing the efficiency of health services provided to beneficiaries. For his part, Dr. Samah Al-Bagouri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of “Sandoz Egypt,” commended the Health Care Authority’s efforts in developing digital infrastructure and improving the quality of health services, affirming that “Sandoz Egypt” looks forward to a strategic partnership with the Authority, stating that they have shared goals and visions that they strive to achieve with the Authority in the coming period, which contributes to improving patients’ access to modern treatments and enhancing innovation in the healthcare sector in Egypt.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Health Care Authority, including Dr. Amir Al-Talwani, the Executive Director of the Authority, Dr. Amr Abdel Nabi, the Advisor to the Chairman of the Authority for Partnerships and Business Development, Dr. Mahmoud Al-Diab, General Manager of the General Administration for Strategic Management, Dr. Mostafa Shaaban, Head of the Central Administration for Health Care and Treatment, Dr. Mohannad Atef, Director of Studies and Research Management, Dr. Radwa Abdel Azim, a member of the Technical Office and responsible for the Oncology file in the Technical Office of the Chairman of the Authority, and Dr. Omnia Antar, responsible for Partnerships and Business Development.
