The Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) on Thursday announced an increase in bank deposits by around EGP 108.5 billion at the end of April to reach EGP 7.089 trillion against EGP 6.980 trillion in March.
Total governmental deposits at banks hit EGP 1.408 trillion by the end of April, up from EGP 1.377 trillion in March, the CBE said in a report, a copy of which was obtained by MENA.
Governmental deposits stood at EGP 1.217 trillion in local currency, and EGP 191.446 billion in foreign currency, while total non-governmental deposits increased to EGP 5.680 trillion.
Non-governmental deposits in local currency reached EGP 4.829 trillion by the end of April, compared to EGP 4.770 trillion in the previous month, the report added.
