Canada and Egypt strengthen bilateral relations

Following the meeting held today between the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, and His Excellency Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates of Egypt, on the margins of the UN General Assembly meetings in New York the following readout was issued:

‘In line with the long-standing and friendly partnership between both Canada and Egypt, built over the course of 70 years of diplomatic relations, both sides reaffirmed the mutual desire to enhance cooperation between our two countries.

‘Ministers Joly and Abdelatty stressed the need to advance and strengthen bilateral relations, including economic and commercial interactions, as well as to promote tourism and support greater people-to-people interactions.

Both ministers agreed there is much that can be achieved between the Governments of Canada and Egypt by collaborating together with a view to continuing to build together a reinvigorated platform of bilateral cooperation in all its dimensi
ons.

‘To that end, both Ministers discussed the issue of mutual facilitation of travel and tourism between both countries, along with the possibility of waiving the requirement of prior-entry visas for Canadian citizens travelling to Egypt. Minister Abdelatty agreed that Egypt will take this step very soon, and it will be announced in due time.

Minister Joly thanked him for this positive signal, in the spirit of Egyptian-Canadian friendship, and as a genuine demonstration of the two countries’ partnership, which is being celebrated in 2024 as they mark 70 years of diplomatic relations.’

Excellent DandN, in cooperation with the Authority, will formulate and implement an awareness and promotional plan for supporting investment environment in Egypt, and that’s by using various media channels and tools.

This is aimed at achieving the country’s main economic goals, which are: to enable the private sector to play its role as a leader of growth, to increase employment rates and provide job opportunities, and to
achieve the Authority’s main goal, which is boosting investment to increase export rate.

Dina Abdel Fattah said that Excellent DandN will use its extensive experience in organizing media and marketing activities and events, both locally and abroad, and that’s to highlight the significant improvement witnessed by the investment environment in Egypt, whether in terms of infrastructure or procedures and legislation adopted to support investors.

Amr El-Fekki said that the United Media Services (UMS) will use its media tools and affiliated companies to produce content that supports the investment environment, which is also meant to convey the true image of the positive developments that the Egyptian economy is achieving.

El-Fekki also highlighted that there are 49 media-related companies affiliated with the UMS, including television channels, TV and film production companies, newspapers, news websites, social media promotion agencies, and conference organizing companies.

Hossam Heiba ??announced that the Autho
rity will periodically provide the UMS and its subsidiaries with information related to investment, including new investments, and the recent improvements to the laws, regulations and policies related to the investment environment in Egypt, stressing that the cooperation between the two sides will contribute to creating a real investment culture among citizens.
