Cameroon and DR Congo have secured their places in the semi-finals of the UNIFFAC 2025 U20 AFCON Tournament following an eventful group stage in Congo on Saturday.

Both teams will now compete for a spot in the final after overcoming tough opposition in the tournament’s early stages.

Cameroon were in dominant form, winning both their group games to top Group B with six points.

Their campaign began with a thumping 4-0 victory over the Central African Republic, followed by a 3-1 win against Gabon in their second match.

This ensured their place at the top of the group and confirmed their place in the semi-finals.

DR Congo bounced back after an opening loss to Congo in Group A. A 1-0 defeat to the hosts had put them on the back foot, but they responded with a strong 3-1 win over Equatorial Guinea.

This crucial victory allowed the young Leopards to secure second place in Group A and advance to the semi-finals.

Meanwhile, the Central African Republic’s hopes were kept alive thanks to Cameroon’s victory over
Gabon. The Central Africans managed to beat Gabon 2-1 in their first match but lost 4-0 to Cameroon.

With Gabon failing to win against Cameroon, the Central African Republic advanced to the semi-finals despite only collecting three points.

Gabon and Equatorial Guinea, who finished bottom of their respective groups without a win, will now face off in a classification match on Monday. Both teams will be playing for pride, with the match determining which side finishes last in the tournament.

The semi-final line-up is now set. Congo, who finished top of Group A with two wins, will take on the Central African Republic, while Cameroon will face DR Congo in the other semi-final clash.

Both matches are scheduled for September 1, with Congo vs Central African Republic kicking off at 12pm GMT, followed by Cameroon vs DR Congo at 3pm GMT.
