Cairo: Director General of East Cairo Antiquities Abdullah Saad announced that considerable efforts are underway to develop several archaeological sites in the area as part of the Urban Regeneration for Historic Cairo (URHC) project.
According to State Information Service Egypt, Saad highlighted in an interview with Nile News Channel that the Mosque of Qaytbay is among the key sites undergoing renovation. This follows the completion of the development of the Qansuh Abu Said Dome.
Saad detailed that a visitor trail is being established in the Mamluk Cemetery, starting from the Qansuh Abu Said Dome, passing through the Farag Ibn Barquq Complex, and culminating at the Qaytbay Complex.
He emphasized the importance of the Mamluk Cemetery as a crucial element of Cairo’s cultural and architectural history. Additionally, work is progressing on restoring and enhancing the archaeological sites within the Sultan Qaytbay Mosque, which is recognized as one of the largest architectural complexes in the area.
