Cairo and Doha Aim to Bolster Trade Ties, Announces Egypt’s PM Madbouly.


Cairo: Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdel Rahman al-Thani chaired an extensive discussion session at the Cabinet headquarters in the New Administrative Capital. The session focused on strengthening joint cooperation in various fields, particularly emphasizing the desire of both Cairo and Doha to enhance trade exchanges.

According to State Information Service Egypt, Prime Minister Madbouly expressed appreciation for the visit of the Qatari delegation, led by the Qatari Prime Minister, highlighting the importance of intensified communication and joint coordination between the two nations on regional issues of mutual interest. The meeting between President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and the Qatari Prime Minister was described as fruitful, underscoring the commitment of both countries to enhance cooperation in multiple areas with the aim of achieving rapid progress.

Madbouly highlighted an upcoming joint venture in real estate investment in Egypt’s
North Coast as a key area of collaboration. He noted the efficiency of Qatari construction companies, particularly during the World Cup projects, and their potential for forming partnerships in Egypt’s real estate sector. This collaboration could extend to Egyptian companies working in the African market.

The discussions also revealed a mutual desire to increase trade exchange rates. The Egyptian side plans to work with Qatari authorities to achieve these goals, leveraging the substantial potential of both countries. Madbouly indicated that Qatar expressed interest in partnering with Egypt’s manufacturing sector, offering numerous investment opportunities in the industrial domain that could benefit from Qatari involvement.

Potential benefits for Qatar include establishing industrial partnerships in Egypt to export products to the African market, using Egypt as a gateway, as well as to countries with existing free trade agreements with Egypt. There is also interest from Qatar regarding investment opportuniti
es in the tourism sector, particularly in the North Coast and Greater Cairo areas, where opportunities for acquisition or partnership with Egyptian private sector entities are being prepared.

Further talks included investment cooperation in ports, logistics zones, and establishing data centers. Opportunities in the New Administrative Capital were also discussed, particularly in real estate and tourism sectors, presented during a visit by Eng. Khaled Abbas to Doha.

Madbouly emphasized Egypt’s commitment to regular Egyptian-Qatari Investment Forums, aiming to foster communication between business sectors of both nations. The next session is anticipated in the first quarter of 2025.

The session was attended by prominent officials from both countries, including Egyptian ministers and Qatari officials, demonstrating the high-level commitment to these initiatives.
