Cabinet Refutes Claims of Minimum Wage and Pension Increase Decisions

Cairo: The Cabinet has dismissed recent social media claims about decisions to raise the minimum wage for employees in the state administrative apparatus beginning in March 2025. It also refuted reports of allocating additional funds for the “Takaful and Karama” pension program, which supports individuals and families in poverty, and increasing the tax exemption threshold for workers in both the public and private sectors.

According to State Information Service Egypt, the Cabinet has confirmed that no decision has been made to bring forward the disbursement date of the periodic allowance for government employees covered by the Civil Service Law. Counsellor Mohamed Al-Homsani, the official spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office, emphasized that the government is still reviewing the social protection package mandated by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. This was reiterated by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, during a recent press conference.

Al-Homsani stressed that the public will be informed once the review is complete and urged against spreading inaccurate information that could lead to confusion.
