Julian Popov, Minister of Environment and Water of Bulgaria, stated that the world is now going through a decisive phase of climate change.
”We must accelerate our efforts now in light of the global understanding of the serious risks of climate change and its consequences in reality,” Popov told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of COP28 in Dubai.
He illustrated the changing climate by highlighting the increasing frequency and intensity of extreme weather events around the world.
Popov added that his country is participating in COP28 with a delegation representing the government and private sectors, pointing out the importance of intensifying cooperation between countries of the world to confront climate challenges, as there is a need for more funds and investments to support climate efforts to ensure a sustainable climate action.
He advocated for a unified push towards the Paris Agreement goals in all policies and development initiatives.
