Amman: Head of the Senate’s Media Committee, Dr. Mohammad Momani, on Wednesday met with a student delegation from British universities, who are currently visiting the Kingdom.
Speaking during the meeting, Momani noted Jordan’s political modernization, amid preparations to hold the next parliamentary elections with “broad” party participation, represented by allocating 41 seats to the general party list in the upcoming Parliament.
Momani also said Jordan’s new Election Law granted youth and women “advanced” positions in the party list, which is a “remarkable” opportunity for the “active” participation of youth and women in Jordan’s political process.
Momani noted the number of party seats will be increased in the upcoming Lower House of Representatives, which would lead to a party-based programmatic parliament.
Momani stressed Jordan’s “firm” position, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, towards the Palestinian cause and the Israeli war on Gaza, and the need to reach a political solution that leads to end
ing the war immediately reduce the suffering of the Palestinian people.
Jordan, he noted, is moving with “steady and confident” steps towards comprehensive modernization despite the regional turmoil.
For their part, the delegation stressed the importance of Jordan’s role in the region, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, adding that this role is “pivotal and important” in the pursuit to achieve security and stability in the Middle East region.
